I share your interest in Jamaican mythology and myths & been using AI generative models since March, so I’m excited by the progressions in the various models I’ve used.
I've used DALL-E, Stable Diffusion & Leonardo AI, to create a series of mermaids or River Mummas that I needed as an illustration in my fathers memoir to illustrate his story, "Dora & the Golden Comb".
I produced a series some successful some not, but & happy enough with some to include one in the book.
I firmly believe that AI gives Jamaican creatives an incredible opportunity to tell our stories.
I'd share a couple in this chat but don't see an upload option.
That’s wonderful. I’d love to see them... and be been using Wonder AI ... hmmm maybe there’s another way on this platform for you to share the images. Maybe in a chat. I’ll investigate.
This is a very dark and frightening Jamaican myth/legend. However, all the AI depictions look way “off the mark” to me. They are all bulls (even the Wall Street statue!) - it is a Calf!
Yes, and even with he name calf...the people I have spoken to have different interpretations of what it might look like. Also, with the AI thing ...the prompts are hit and miss many times.
Indeed... I had heard of the Rolling Calf as a child, but the part about it being what happens to a Butcher after death was new to me...even the half man - half calf version... I hope this might spark a little conversation though....thanks for engaging with me :)

Ah, how interesting. I think of a smaller creature weighed down with chains...but no less malevolent.
you should see the weirdness that I got from the prompt for the three wheel coffin ....I'll share those later :D

No problem - I will share elsewhere and help you get the conversation going…I didn’t know that butcher part either; vegans might like that… ;)
Thank you!
