The story goes …as I’ve been told, In the late 1970s Mr. Brown died in Manchester and the coffin, with a life of its own and on three wheels, traveled to town and was spotted speeding all over West Kingston with 3 (some say 2) John Crows (Turkey buzzards) perched upon it.
Another telling is that the coffin was in search of Mr Brown….and that the John Crows were calling out for “Mr. Brown…Mr. Brown”.
Apparently it caused quite a stir downtown when members of the public claimed the coffin had reached Parade.
“3 o’clock ….another roadblock” …they had to shut down the streets.
Speaking of Bob …Bob Marley gave this creepy story new life when he recorded “Mr. Brown”
The eerie organ and ghostly percussion effect in the intro really raises your goosebumps on a dark quiet night. ;-) Have a listen here:
AI images….hahahaha ..this time AI generated some real doozies ….so very weird. Some of them look like coffin motorbikes. I even specified 3 wheels and got 4!!! I still enjoy sharing them.
On a related note: I was invited to share about this series on Love FM today for Heritage month….you can check it out here: Part 1 || Part 2
As usual, let me now if you have any background on Mr Brown and the three-wheel coffin.
Brian Heap, in response to yesterday’s post about the Ole Higue has pointed me in the direction of “One/Long Bubby Susan” ….something new I had never heard before …I will investigate.
